Need a quick lesson idea for Valentine’s Day Art Projects?
I’ve been pinning like crazy to my Valentine Pinterest Board because I absolutely love Valentine’s Day art projects. All those red tints! It’s also an opportunity to get creative and try something new. I love sourcing new ideas but I find I’m always drawn to the projects that combine art techniques and maybe an inspiration form a famous artist.
Here are some of my favorite finds. Hopefully, you’ll find the perfect lesson to do at home or in your classroom. No glitter required!
1. Jim Dine-Inspired Hearts from Art With Mrs. A
2. Painted Paper in the Art Room’s Picasso Period Hearts
3. Notes from the Orchard’s Heart Printable
4. Martha Stewart’s Crayon Hearts Craft
5. Kids Artist’s Burton Morris-Inspired Hearts
6. Painted Paper in the Art Room Popsicle Stick Heart Activity
7. Drip Drip Splatter Splash Heart Painting Mixed-Media
8. For the Love of Art’s Jackson Pollock-Inspired Hearts
10. Momista Beginning’s Jim Dine-inspired Valentine Project
Aren’t they all beautiful?

I noticed a pretty significant increase in page views on my blog and saw that you included me in this little roundup. Thanks! I’m glad you like my project. I’m actually familiar with your site here, I’ve browsed it many times in the past when I was teaching art for some inspiration. You have some great ideas and projects here. Thanks again for spreading the love 🙂 -Misty

Hi!
I’d like my kinder students to do #1 tomorrow. How do they start? Is it watercolor in four different sections with different watercolors? Then do they draw the hearts? Or is it crayon resist? Do they color the hearts first with crayons and then paint with watercolors?
Hi Sue. These projects are from different sites and not Deep Space Sparkle lessons. If you follow the links it looks like the author describes the process: 1.) fold paper in fourths 2.) trace folded lines & draw a heart in each square with a black crayon 3.) Use crayons to add pops of color inside and around hearts (not coloring in everything) 4.) Paint over everything with watercolor (could be one color per square, or multiple colors per square). I hope that helps.
